Guilherme Saldanha
Biography
João Guilherme Saldanha is a PhD student in Sport Sciences at the Faculty of Sports Science and Physical Education, University of Coimbra. He is a researcher affiliated with the University of Coimbra, CIPER, Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education, Coimbra, Portugal; Department of Physical Education and Sport, University of Madeira, Funchal, Portugal; and with the Interactive Technologies Institute, Laboratory of Robotics and Engineering Systems, Funchal, Portugal. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Sciences with specialization in Sports Training from the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon and a Master’s degree in Physical Activity and Sport from the University of Madeira. He has practical and research experience in sports training, physical fitness assessment, and exercise physiology, with roles as both sports physiologist and assistant football coach. His current research focuses on sports performance, injury prevention, physical rehabilitation, and the development of virtual approaches for sports training optimization, athletes´ health and well-being. He is also an invited assistant professor at the University of Madeira, teaching Sports Training Methodology and football training-related modules. Moreover, he has participated in and organized scientific events and conferences. Recently, he has been awarded a PhD research grant from ARDITI for a project advancing injury prevention and rehabilitation using innovative technologies such as Neurofeedback via fNIRS.
