Guto Requena

Biography

Guto Requena (he/him) is a PhD candidate at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and a researcher at the Interactive Technologies Institute (ITI). He is the founder of Estudio Guto Requena, based in São Paulo and Lisbon, and serves as a guest lecturer at the Sorbonne in Paris. With nearly 20 years of experience, he balances his leadership as CEO and Creative Director with international lectures and roles as a creative consultant, author, and television host.
His research at ITI, titled “Fostering Empathy through Interactive Urban Installations,” aims to develop new design methodologies for decolonial futures. By exploring how urban installations augmented with interactive technologies can foster affection in communal spaces, he investigates the fusion of biofeedback and digital fabrication. Examples include the Love Project, the Dancing Pavilion, and Mapped Empathies.
