Inês Alves

Biography

Inês Alves is a PhD student at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. Her academic journey has been in Computer Science and Engineering. She concluded her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. She is currently a teaching assistant in the Human-Computer Interaction course from the second year of the Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico. She is part of ITI/LARSyS, specifically working in the HCI Lab under the supervision of Professor Augusto Esteves.
In her Master’s, she specialized in the Interaction and Visualization, and Games areas. Her Master’s Thesis focused on developing a Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy for people who fear dogs using Gamification and Biofeedback. She has a paper published in the ACM VRST 24 conference proceedings based on a study she conducted during my Master’s Thesis. In her PhD, she continues researching in the Human-Computer Interaction area, exploring the potential of Augmented Reality through Simulation-Based Learning to improve educational experiences in higher education.
