Biography

Joana completed an MSc. in Technological Physics at Instituto Superior Técnico in 2000 and a PhD in Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering at Lisbon University in 2007. Joana worked as Technology Transfer Officer for University of Lisbon in 2007 and for the onset of the MIT-Portugal Coordination Office (2007-8). She was head of the Radiology Department and Vice-presitent of the Scientific Cousil at the Red Cross School of Healthcare (2004-2014). In 2014, Joana founded a social entreprise to dedicated to horse-mediated social inclusion, that coordinated an international collaborative partnership supported by the EU Commission through the Erasmus+ program. Currently Joana is a Project Manager at ITI.
