Biography

Maria Julia Vieira (she/her) is currently a PhD student in New Media, with an FCT PhD scholarship. She has a degree in social communication – journalism from the Catholic University of Pernambuco (Brazil – 2016), a specialization in Digital Marketing Strategy, Master’s in Communication, Networks and Technologies from the Lusófona University of Porto (2021). Her doctoral thesis researches the inclusion of women in live streaming videogames. She is interested in the scientific areas of communication sciences research, including: female representation and inclusion in the videogames industry; gender equality; women in games; convergence and participatory culture.
