Biography

Rafaela Nunes is an artist and researcher. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon with a BA and an MFA in Painting. She is a PhD student in Multimedia Art and a fellow and researcher at the Interactive Technologies Institute and eGames Lab.

Her practice-based research investigates the hybridisation of physical, artistic media with the virtual realm using transmedia strategies, which combine painting, sculpture, programming, and artificial intelligence to create artificial natures. Through her research, she aims to contribute to the broader discourse on the evolving and intersecting relationships between the physical and the digital and the natural and the artificial, encouraging a reevaluation of constructed dichotomies within our perception and representations.
