Sandra Andrade

Biography

Sandra MC Andrade (she/her) holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Aveiro and a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). In 2025, she began her PhD in Computer Science and Engineering at IST, where her research focuses on Human–Robot Interaction, integrating cognitive and behavioural sciences with system design. She is currently a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Computer Science at IST, supporting undergraduate and graduate courses.

At ITI, her work within the ERROR-MM project explores the concept of robotlikeness and its impact on human mental models of robots. Starting from movement as the basis of robotic behaviour, her research tests whether robotlike behaviours lead to more accurate human mental models of a robot’s true capabilities than humanlike behaviours.
