Vera Fearns

Biography

Vera is a postdoctoral researcher at ITI with a multidisciplinary educational and professional background at the intersection of aesthetics, spatial practices, histories, and futures. At ITI, she explores the aesthetic ecologies of conservation through artistic interventions and feminist fabulations in the context of the Levadas on Madeira.

Vera holds a PhD in Management and Organization Studies from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (PT), studied Literature, Arts, and Media at the University of Konstanz (D) and Spatial Planning at the Vienna University of Technology (A), and holds a Laurea in Design from the Libera Università di Bolzano (I). Before joining ITI, Vera was affiliated with the School of Business and Economics at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (PT), the University of St. Gallen (CH), the EU Business School (D/CH), the Chair for Sustainable Urbanism, and the Chair for Sustainable Building at the Technical University Munich (D), as well as the Research & Development department of the BMW Group (D).
