BIG ERA Chair

Summary

Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies (DLT) deliver a potential that allows secured, transparent and user-centric digital services, encourages new and advanced business models and promotes decentralised social innovations. The EU is furthering an integrated approach for their application in various domains. To that end, the EU-funded BIG project intends to seek funding to expand the research and innovation potential of the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon. The project will support establishing a digital ecosystem that will take advantage of blockchain technologies and design innovation for social good by hiring an ERA Chair holder. Moreover, it will support deploying and testing blockchain technologies in strategic application domains, aiming to increase Lisbon’s potential as a European high-tech hub for the data economy.
