Advisory Board Meeting 2023 & ITI Opening

The Interactive Technologies Institute is hosting its Advisory Board Meeting 2023 at Beato Creative Hub on the 16th and 17th of October. The event will gather most of the ITI team, from faculty and researchers to students and research support staff, to collaboratively demonstrate how the Institute has progressed over the years. The Advisory Board of the ITI is composed of Gregory D. Abowd, Kristina Höök, Michela Magas, Norbert Streitz, and Vicki Hanson.

During the two days, the ITI community will work together to discuss topics such as the Institute’s strategy, vision and research management policies and to present the latest facts and figures on students, publications, projects and funding. Additionally, the research community will split into seven groups dedicated to exploring past and ongoing projects in each theme and upcoming opportunities to develop the theme at the ITI.

At the end of the event, the Advisory Board members will meet and identify possible improvement opportunities and essential guidelines to ensure the successful growth of the Interactive Technologies Institute as a leading research unit in Human-Computer Interaction.

The opening of the ITI Lisbon facilities at Beato Creative Hub

Following up on the Advisory Board Meeting, the Interactive Technologies Institute is taking the opportunity to officially open the Institute’s facilities at the Beato Creative Hub. On the evening of October 17, the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, will officialise the inauguration of the space, joined by other academic personalities such as Rogério Colaço, President of Instituto Superior Técnico, António de Sousa Dias de Macêdo, President of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, Carlos Francisco Lucas Dias Coelho, President of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, and Inês Oom de Sousa, President of the Santander Portugal Foundation.

The Interactive Technologies Institute will also host a research demo show, where researchers and students will showcase prototypes they have been developing, including video games, robots and rover teleoperation control units.
